Via Mineralia – a pervasive museum exploration game



In today’s multimedia world it becomes harder and harder for classical museums and exhibitions to keep visitors interested with classical displays alone. We present “Via Mineralia” as a successful example of how a classical minerals exhibition can be enriched with an interactive gaming experience. The aim is to capture the attention of visitors, to convey knowledge about exhibition items, and to provide guided paths through the museum, all in a playful way. Via Mineralia is currently in its pre-production stage and will be installed at the “Terra Mineralia” museum in Freiberg by 2008.
